While this makes it tough to use as a mobile device, I figured that if I could successfully replace the battery, I might be able to connect an external monitor and repurpose it as a server. Additional tools will be required.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1001\" data-end=\"1061\">Even though the screen cracked, if I can manage to replace the battery, there is still room to use it as a dedicated server running off an external monitor.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1062\" data-end=\"1103\">The experience itself\u2014realizing that &#8220;this isn&#8217;t something easily replaced&#8221;\u2014became a valuable takeaway.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr data-start=\"1105\" data-end=\"1108\" \/>\n<h2 data-start=\"1110\" data-end=\"1118\">Conclusion<\/h2>\n<p>This attempt was thwarted by a &#8220;cracked screen&#8221; and &#8220;mysterious standard screws,&#8221; making it <strong data-start=\"1144\" data-end=\"1159\">an unfulfilled replacement = a complete defeat<\/strong>. However, I gained crucial insights:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1174\" data-end=\"1254\">\n<li data-start=\"1174\" data-end=\"1201\">Disassembling the Surface Pro 5 is extremely difficult<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1202\" data-end=\"1225\">The LCD panel cracks easily and is hard to reuse<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1226\" data-end=\"1254\">Uncommon, proprietary sizes are used for internal screws<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I was able to acquire these important takeaways.<br data-start=\"1276\" data-end=\"1279\" \/>The possibility of replacing the battery still remains, and if successful, <strong data-start=\"1306\" data-end=\"1330\">it can be used for server purposes combined with an external monitor<\/strong>.
