In this blog post, I’ll recap the video while sharing behind-the-scenes stories and additional details!

A Quick Recap of the Video

The video mainly covers the following steps:

Design and Material Selection

Instead of using a standard pail can, I used a compact cylinder for the main body to prioritize space saving.

Fabricated the main body (the cyclone part) using a 3D printer.

Used readily available commercial items, such as containers and hoses purchased from 100-yen shops.

Assembly

Explained the operating principle and performance of the cyclone dust collector.

Testing and Results

Vacuuming up too much debris at once caused clogs and prevented proper separation, but feeding debris in gradually enabled effective separation.

Tested how well it separates sawdust and fine powder—the high separation efficiency was clearly demonstrated!

Key Points Not Fully Covered in the Video

Room for Improvement
While the video makes the build look smooth, there were actually various challenges during the prototyping phase.

The initial hose connection design was inadequate, allowing air leaks that noticeably reduced suction power. To resolve this, I redesigned the parts while accounting for 3D printer tolerances.

Hose length and routing were also crucial; I discovered that an excessively long hose directly impacts suction performance.

Workspace Optimization
To build a truly compact dust collector, I designed it to fit neatly under the workbench, which allows for much more effective use of the limited workspace.

A Message to Our Viewers

If you watch the video and have suggestions like “How about this improvement?” or “Please try this with different materials,” please feel free to share your ideas in the YouTube comments or right here on the blog!

Moving forward, I will continue to share plenty of behind-the-scenes stories and trial-and-error processes on this blog that couldn’t fit into the videos.

Hello!
