iPhone SE2 (2020) Repair Revenge! Nando Kobo’s Struggle Chronicle
Last time, I attempted to replace the battery of an iPhone SE2 (2020), but made a critical mistake during the repair by severing the cable connected to the front camera, front sensor, and speaker…
So this time, my goal is a complete revival by replacing that cable!
Trying Again with a Newly Purchased Cable!
I proceeded with the repair using a newly purchased cable from AliExpress. However, another trouble occurred during the work!
- When removing the cable from the iPhone body, I didn’t notice that the sensor had detached from the cable and remained stuck inside the body, and I blindly forced it back together during reassembly.
The result was…
- While the front camera became usable normally, the speaker wouldn’t sound—a disappointing outcome.
Cause Revealed by Re-disassembly
To investigate the cause, I disassembled it once more and found that the sensor had indeed been left behind inside the body!
- Though it was a delicate task, I carefully removed the sensor using an awl and reassembled everything again.
- After reassembly, the speaker successfully started working this time, what a relief!
After the Repair… A New Problem Discovered
Just as I felt relieved that the speaker issue was resolved, a new phenomenon occurred where the home button started registering ghost double-clicks…
This makes the phone way too inconvenient to use, so my next repair project will likely be “Home Button Repair."
Lessons and Reflections from This Time
Looking back at this work, I gained the following lessons:
- Always double-check where components are left behind during disassembly
- Do not force parts into place; carefully resolve issues one by one
- Even if a repair doesn’t go well, the mindset of applying those lessons next time is crucial
Next time, I plan to attempt repairing the home button!
